If you love nature, then this is a must
visit place. The largest mangrove forest in the world. A great 3 day
trip to get away from the city and just relax.
We took the cruise offered by 'The Guide Tours'. When I say cruise, don't expect a flashy cruise ship, with casino's, shows or a huge buffet. It's a medium sized passenger ferry catering to roughly 30 guests. The staff is great and very knowledgable about the forest, it's flora and fauna.
We trekked in the forest, went to a isolated beach, saw tiger footprints and claw marks on some trees. Deers, monkeys, snakes, monitors, different birds and other animals are a common sight. If you are lucky you will see a crocodile, and if you are very very lucky, you might see the tiger. A highlight of the trip was taking the small local wooden boats into the canals (where the ferry cannot go). Winter is the preferable time to visit, but I hear the monsoon season has a totally different beauty.
